Municipal Office

The council administration has organised the Town Office as the central contact point for all administrative queries related to the community. It is situated on the ground floor of the civic centre and is open to all members of the population requiring information. The Town Office is also in charge of the council's „Einwohnerkontrolle“ (Register of Inhabitants) and the AHV-/disability insurance branch office. Forms, certificates, fee stamps and numerous brochures and information sheets about what is on offer in the community and the region, can all be obtained at the Town Office. The staff members at the Town Office can provide information about who to contact in the case of more specific questions. They are happy to assist non-German speakers in English.

There are free advisory services for many questions and problems, particularly for social issues, in Reinach itself or in the region. However, since these services are usually not available in English it is advisable to take a German-speaking confidant along with you.

Registration made easy

Anyone wishing to take up residence in Reinach can register at the local council's Town Office. Please first notify your previous commune of residence of your departure (deregister). Registration has to be completed within fourteen days of moving here.

You have to appear at the counter personally and bring the following documents with you, if you are a citizen of a country other than Switzerland and have moved to Reinach directly from abroad:

  • Passport from your country of origin
  • For families: marriage certificate plus the children's birth certificates
  • Two photos of every family memeber
  • The rental contract or a confirmation from the property management or deeds of purchase or an extract from the land register for a residence in Reinach
  • employment contract.


If you already live in Switzerland and are moving to Reinach please bring the following documents with you:

  • Passport from your country of origin
  • The Swiss foreign resident's ID which confirms your residence status
  • For families: marriage certificate plus the children's birth certificates
  • The rental contract or a confirmation from the property management or deeds of purchase for a residence in Reinach
  • Only for non- EU/EFTA-citizens : Medical insurance certificates for all family members, employment contract or a confirmation from your employer

Registering a change of address

You can register a change of address within Reinach personally or online via the Town Office. To do so it is mandatory that you have a valid rental contract, a confirmation from the property management, deeds of purchase or an extract from the land register. You can bring this along personally or send it via e-mail as a PDF to the Town Office (stadtbuero@reinach-bl.ch). Please bring with you: a copy of your residence permit for foreign nationals.

Foreign driving licence

If you want to convert your foreign driver's licence, you can obtain the relevant application form in the Town Office. Once you have entered your personal details in the application, you have them confirmed by us. Please bring with you: valid identification (original driving licence, passport photo, residence permit.

Guests from abroad

You would like to invite a guest from abroad? The Swiss diplomatic mission responsible in the person's homeland decides whether the person applying for the visa requires a formal guarantee bond. If yes, then they issue you with the numbered guarantee form. The person submitting the application (your guest) fills out the form and forwards it to the guarantor (you as the host). Once you have filled out your section and signed the form, please bring it to our counter in the Town Office. The municipality has to clarify whether you, as the guarantor, are in a position to meet the financial obligations involved: with your signature you pledge to accept liability for any uncovered costs for your guest's living expenses, up to an amount of CHF 30,000.-- (including accident, sickness and return voyage). The form is then forwarded to the State Secretariat for Migration. Cost: CHF 20.
